Work Crews
The internet communication crews were out in full force this morning with their trucks and trailers pulling apart strange boxes near the edge of the road and digging shallow holes for one reason or another. It's not the first time I've run into to these crews at work. In fact, it seems as though 3:30am is a fairly regular time for them to get their work done. Their not drilling or making a bunch of noise that would wake the neighborhood and I imagine that corporate did some analysis that showed this would create the least disruption in service.
The crew workers wear hard hats that have lights around the brim to make them look like they are from outer space. Going up in the bucket of the bucket trucks adds to the effect.
We exchanged casual hellos and good mornings. I didn't want to be disruptive but also didn't want to cause a scare when I ran by with my own light up attire.
6 miles. Thursday easy effort.
Seeing the workers this morning made me think about how much time I'm putting into this training. It's sort of the equivalent of having a part time job. Someplace between 7-8 hours a week. (a very part time job). But it is exceptionally structured. 1.5 hours a day clearly defined and dedicated to a task. The predictability is nice and the weird sleeping pattern is acceptable.
