The sidewalks, even after being plowed were too unreliable to hit speed work out pace so I ran in the road with the exception of the cool down. There were a few instances where I needed to briefly hit the packed snow on the intervals which is very unpleasant. I gave myself a lot of self talk "YEAH!!! Let's go!" ... "Two more intervals!" ... "That's it settle in. Feel it". I felt it alright except when trying to run right into the win. I checked my pace occasionally through the intervals, but didn't care that much so I ended up a little slower than last week, but still plenty fast and in target range. I feel a little self conscious about hollering out so early in the morning, but doubt anyone really cares too much. By the time anyone inside catching z's hears me I'll be long gone.
When I first started running around my town, I would make elaborate routes to explore different neighborhoods. During the winter here, I find I am far less picky about the route as long as I can find decent footing. If that means running in a loop a few times, I'll do it. The scenery doesn't matter as much as not falling and hitting the target distances/paces. It's like eating some vegetables not because they are good, but because you know they are good for you.
I have a much better sense of the distance I am going to since running the same roads for the past two years. I generally am able to land at the end of the run with in a quarter mile of home. Not always, but I can get within spitting distance cutting the extraneous time on my feet (which cuts into the time I need to be in bed).
Rest day tomorrow.
