Pile of Dirt

8/10/2026 — 8 Easy Effort Miles (9:12 pace)

I've heard it said it's best to embrace the easy miles. I'm not so sure I struggled being bored today, but I did not struggle keeping the easy pace easy.

Although there wasn't much to note this morning, I did stop by where the ICE picked up the workers who were digging the holes. A statue on top of a mound of dirt littered with paperboard signs poorly handmade with slogans opposing the practices of the agency and others lending supportive reminders about the need to love neighbors. The piles of dirt all over the block are evidence of the unfinished work, serving as a reminder of the episode of abduction. It's hard to say how long these memorials might last. The paper will start to decay at some point, but I imagine the mounds will remain for some time, the makeshift graves.

I fell asleep after my run. I woke up from a dream with a rattlesnake slithering away.
