Merry Christmas
The dark short days of winter take their toll and it's only December. But it makes the brilliance of morning light just that much more intense and special. Yesterday I got carried away and ended up doing 11 miles. It just felt good to be out in the elements as the sun peaked over the horizon.
Today, Christmas, I added another 8 miles while the world still slept.
As the world finishes it's trip around the sun, I'm feeling especially content right now. It's been an adventurous kind of past 12 months and it is a gift to be closing down with some reflections on how much fit into such a short period of time. Not always easy and certainly some episodes of high stress, but in the end, very satisfying.
Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that, as we are bathed in the new radiance of your incarnate Word,
the light of faith, which illumines our minds,
may also shine through in our deeds.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity
of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
